Summary:

The Day Treatment Supervisor will oversee and manage the day treatment program for children, ensuring adherence to state guidelines, promoting client health and safety, and supervising program staff to deliver high-quality mental health services. The supervisor will be responsible for developing, implementing, and reviewing treatment plans, as well as ensuring that all services meet the rehabilitative needs of clients as specified in their Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs).

The Day Treatment Supervisor will support anti-oppressive/anti-racist practice, and trauma-responsive practice, through their administrative, and operations support of program staff and interns working on site, in community/office, and remotely to address socioeconomic and health disparity. Experience and interest in working with clients and colleagues with a range of identities including age, developmental and acquired disabilities, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, relationship structure, indigenous heritage, national origin, immigration status, and gender is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the day treatment program operates year-round, three to five days per week, with structured therapeutic services tailored to client needs.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment that aligns with members' treatment goals.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 245I.06, focusing on their ability to meet clients' needs.
  • Develop and implement written treatment supervision plans for new staff within 30 days of employment. Review and update plans annually.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on staff competency, offering coaching, teaching, and skill-building as needed.
  • Approve and sign off on client diagnoses, ITPs, and any changes to treatment plans.
  • Ensure services such as psychotherapy and skills training are provided according to each client's ITP.
  • Be available for urgent consultation as required by the client's needs.
  • Ensure that all documentation adheres to Minnesota Statutes 245I.08, including legibility, identification of client and staff, and required signatures.
  • Approve all diagnostic assessments, functional assessments, level of care assessments, and treatment plans completed by staff under supervision within five business days.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate and timely progress notes, detailing interventions, client responses, and future plans.
  • Collaborate with other service providers to ensure consistent and coordinated care for clients.
  • Document coordination efforts as required.
  • Conduct staff training on cultural norms, values, and strategies for effective treatment delivery.
  • Continuously assess and implement program improvements based on client needs and staff capabilities.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Licensed mental health professional (e.g., LMFT, LICSW, LP, LPCC) and MHCP-enrolled.
  • Strong knowledge of Minnesota Statutes governing mental health services and documentation standards.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in mental health services, preferably in children's day treatment programs.
  • Proven experience in supervision and staff development.
  • Intersectional lens, cultural humility, and awareness of own areas of privilege.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including strong oral, written, and listening communication abilities.
  • Time management, initiative, and organizational skills required to be successful in this role.
